Tiling in Basement

Hi, I would like to tile in the basement with moisture presence.
I would like the tiles to be directly applied to the brickwork, without installing any plasterboard.
What type of material could I use to protect the tiles from brickwork moisture?

Brickwork is not really a surface you want to tile onto directly.

You could apply a tanking slurry or liquid DPM and then dab plasterboard on and tile onto that.

Alternatively have it rendered with sand and cement with a waterproofer in prior to tiling.
