Hi.

I have a space in a converted garage that I wish to tile for use as a utility room.

The existing floor is fairly level concrete.

Can anyone recommend (in terms of preparation) what I need to do to the floor before laying tiles, and what adhesive is recommended?

For info, the tiles will be white (30cm square) and the area is approx 1m x 2.5m

Hi there,
from the info you have given i would use a cement based adhesive, either in rapid set or normal (24hr)set. Personally i mostly sell granfix, so if you were at my counter i'd sell you this - http://www.tradepricetiles.co.uk/adhesives-grouts/adhesive/granfix-rapid-set-tile-adhesive-grey.html or this http://www.tradepricetiles.co.uk/ad...fastset-flexible-tile-adhesive-grey-20kg.html

Any trade adhesive would be fine though - bal, granfix etc.

What i cant tell from your post is how old the floor is and if it has an adequate DPM in place. if the floor is overly damp you'd be advised to sort the subfloor first - this will often be a problem in older houses.

Thanks for the reply.

Is there an adhesive in white that's ready mixed?

The floor is ready to tile on. No damp. Age of house is approx 20 years.

not ready mixed but both of those are available in white. You really dont want a ready mixed adhesive for a floor
