Morning,
I’ve poured no-nonsense self-levelling compound in three fireplaces in my house to provide a nice surface for tiling. I did prime the surface before as it was old fire place and mortar and lumpy bumpy etc.
The question is do I need to prime the self levelling compound before tiling?
I’m using a cement based adhesive and pretty basic 6 x 6 tiles.
Thanks.

Read the adhesive data sheet online for preparation

Thanks but it doesn’t specifically refer to self levelling compound.

I just read about the no nonsense rapid set adhesive, and that said yes you can use straight on self leveler however it's better better to seal.

Also found this article.

If you are using self levelling compound on your floor, we recommend applying a layer of primer both initially to the subfloor and then to the cured self-leveller.

Thanks. For belt and braces priming seems the way to go. Cant hurt I guess.
