Tiling preparation - repairing plasterboard/plaster

Anyone know any good tutorials outlining what to do by way of repair when you hack off old tiles?

Havent don it in years, but remember it can be a real pain getting it to a state where you can lay new tiles.

Is this tiles in the shower area?

This one is a kitchen splashback area...pretty small area in all

you can always leave the old tile on if they are sound and tile over
