Hi
I have a wall mounted basin, for the bathroom, it is to be mounted onto a false/stud wall made of exterior ply. Do I tile first then mount the basin or mount the basin and tile round it. Does it need any form of adhesive or sealant behind it in either case?
Thanks

I would tile first, then install basin then add a bead of sealant on the back edge and down the side of the basin where it comes into contact with the tiles. I think that would give you a much better finish then the faffing involved in cutting tiles around something.

I'll second that.

Also if you are not using a metal frame to fix the basin to make sure you have got vertical studs or noggins to take the bolts that hold the basin in place, they could pull out of the ply.

Thanks sanjayp and Jasonb. Managed to reposition the studwork to suit before starting and - anything to avoid cutting tiles!
