When tiling to worktops or shower trays, etc., which is best/correct:
a) Run the tiles direct on the worktop, leaving very little gap. Grout as per usual right down to the worktop, then run a thin (clear) silicone bead over the grout to seal any movement cracks,
or:
b) Leave a larger gap (say, 3mm) between the tiles and worktop. When grouting, try not to get grout in the gap, leaving a larger gap between tiles and worktop. Then run a (coloured) silicone bead over and into the gap so that it has a much firmer grip (and possibly better seal) into the gap.
