I have tiled my first floor and (I think) it has gone OK after following all the tips (chalk lines and everything else). However, bit stuck now I have go to the bit around the loo (thankfully the sink is attached to the wall in the cloakroom and has no pipes to the floor). All your good advice indicates to tile under the loo and not around but I don't know how to go about "lifting" the loo. Any advice you can offer a novice?

The amount of work involved depends on what type of toilet you have. If you have a low level toilet (that's one that has a pipe between the pan and the cistern) then it's easy. Unscrew the pan from the floor, pull the rubber seal from the back of the pan and move the pan out of the way until you've tiled. Then refit the toilet - you will need to either shorten the pipe or push it further up into the cistern siphon.
If you have a close coupled toilet (one where the cistern sits on the pan) then it's more involved. You'll need to move the cistern fixings and the water supply pipes (and possibly overflow pipe too) upwards. It depends how bothered you are about cutting the tiles around the pan.

Thanks for your help. Will check what type it is, and if it is the second one will just have to make do with cutting the tiles around.
