Hi all.. I want to fix a new hardwood cill to masonry base of patio doors. Don't want to screw holes in the nice plank.is a bed of mortar going to be ok? Any other advice?
Maybe.... It was just that the uneven base surface made me think I needed something that I could spread quite thick across the whole of the base, to ensure lots of contact points, to avoid wobbles....
Depends how big the voids are, obviously you don't want to be pumping multiple cartridges in there. If some of the voids are on the large side, you could use wooden packers where needed.
What I wonder about that (maybe wrongly!) is, if folk are putting pressure on the threshold when walking in/out the door, can the foam adhesive degrade/flatten over time?
Yeah I know, my point is let's say you fill a void that's 3cm deep for conversations sake. Then, in the weeks/months/years that follow, folk are exerting downward pressure on it e.g. when they step on the flooring it's supporting. Does it remain 3cm thick or can it compress e.g. becoming 2.5 or 2cm thick over time. Also I'd assume not all foams are equal.
Not saying it to be argumentative, it's a product type I've never really used so just curious.
What's under? Mine was a cavity so I filled with dmp and concrete.
Then you can stick down with CT1 or any polymer mastic. That will be fine.
Other option is drill 3 holes in the floor.
3 or 4 large screws in the back of wood.
Bolt resin in holes.
Drop wood on so screws push in holes with bolt resin.
Never get it up though.
