Hi folks

Been busy with a project we started 18 months ago, a fair few ups and downs and changes on the way but we are nearing completion. Hopefully, when I get the time, I will submit a few photos and hint/ tips pitfalls soon. In the mean time I have a few photos of the property before we started. Once I have submitted the to a web site.... ;)

We have to knock out this window to gain access to the new kitchen

THe dining room needs a bit of a clean....

And finally, we can start work demolishing the extension......

Because of access restrictions, I had to dig out the trench by hand...

had a load of pics of the trench fill but lost them to the digital grave....had to design a steel reinforced foundation because of the bad soil conditions. This added to the cost of the build but made a saving on the timber frame.

pics to follow.

can I ask why there is a grouping of 4 roof joists in the middle of the roof and what is the yellow covering over the exterior?

can I ask why there is a grouping of 4 roof joists in the middle of the roof and what is the yellow covering over the exterior?

There is a non structure stud wall (part of the timber frame)to be fixed between these joists and also it provided somewhere to fix the plasterboard....THe yellow covering is the breather membrane supplied by the manufacturer who fabricated the frame.

more pics to follow....

The kitchens now finished....have discovered that you spend more time finishing a room than doing any other job...;)

I decided to continue into the house and knock down the non-load bearing wall between the lounge and diner, removing the horsehair plaster from the ceilings and walls (awful job that was...), raise the lounge floor to the same height as the dining room about 10mm, block the lounge doorway, battens, plasterboard, coving and skirts were next. Just waiting for a quote from a plasterer to skim the ceiling.

Pics of the lounge diner
