The bottom part of the gable end wall needs replacing in our timber framed house.

The sole plate, and the bodged layers of brick underneath also need replacing.

The house has 2 45 degree angled beams running from centre to each side.
It has uprights running up to these of 4"x2" which we can replace, the question is this:

We need to replace the bottom part of the 45 degree beams and also the 2 4"x3" center beams and the 4x2 running up to the angled beams on the wall. We need to replace about 3' upwards from the sole plate of them.

What join would be best to use? Some have said a 45 degree for the uprights? whats about the joint for the 45 degree beams?

Pic should explain it better than my words have struggled to do!!!

Straight lines show where we can attach the uprights directly to the angled beams, the zigzag lines are the ones we are unsure of..

*Stops rambling*

Before cutting out any Frame work a would seek some advice from planning or an engineer just to make sure you dont end up killing your self from the pic and the info a would suggest that you cut off the 45 beams and dwang across the others were they meet 3ft up and then brace the dwnag to the sole plate as soon as u have replaced them if u wannted to b extra safe a would use a half lapped joint on the dwnag but a reckon screws would b suffice .
