I have run a lot of new 1mm t&e around the loft for inside and outside lights. I have the main ones all going around the perimiter of the square loft about 2m from the edge, currently all laying loose.

Would seem sensible to lay some thin timbers around this route, and clip the cables to them. A previous property I owned had this arrangement.

Can anyone recommend a suitable thickness?

Thanks
Tim

What will these pieces of timber be fixed to? Are you talking about horizontal ones for the cables to lie on, or vertical ones for them to be clipped to? If the latter, what sort of clips?

What about cable tray, with the cables tie-wrapped to it?

Photos of the area(s)?

It was to be horizontal for cables to lie on, fixed to the ceiling joists.

Cable tray is a very good idea, and I cannot believe I didn't think of it! Won't need to whack cable clips in, risking damage to the ceilings. Now to try and source some with delivery to Jersey.....!

Thanks BAS

Have you tried Metro in St. Helier? That's who I used when I lived in Jersey.

Indeed I have - I went there an hour ago and ordered 10 of 3m x 50mm cable basket with brackets - nice and cheap too!

Thanks for the advice, glad to have found a better solution that I was orriginally going to use!

I cannot for the life of me understand why a business would refuse to take money from people.

Actually...

2 of those 3 are trade accounts only, refuse to sell to the public.
I can believe that they won't let JP open an account, and that they are not geared up for online sales to non-account customers, but if you rock up to a branch with some folding, surely they will relieve you of it?

Make sure you do a bit of price research though, as I believe that some of them think that people who do walk in wanting to spend cash should be robbed blind.
