Timer not working on Siemens RDJ/10RF remote stat

Hi, I have a programmable thermostat, Siemens RDJ/10RF on my ideal combi boiler. The problem i'm having is, since changing the batteries in the stat the timer hasn't worked properly. I've tried resetting and re-linking it but to no avail. The timer works to turn off the heating or it will turn off once it reaches the required temp. But it won't turn on at the set time or when it drops below the set temp. The only way I can get the heating on is to tap the reciever (advise I got of the internet) it seems its sticking or something.
