Can anyone identify this type of fly and advise on how to permanently get rid of them? They're about 2mm long, black or possibly very dark brown. They're appearing on the bathroom window in small numbers every day. They appear to be fixated by the window. If I flick one onto the sill they immediately jump back to the glass. They're very easy to squish, so not a major nuisance but I'd prefer not to see them every day.

It is suggested that they see it as being a wasp nest. Others say it "hurts" their eyes?

Looks like a cluster fly.

Hang a bag with 5 pennies with water in it on the window.
These are tiny flies. 2-3mm at the most. An Internet search suggests cluster flies are bigger and these might be drain flies. Anyone had and got rid of these?

Any plants in the room? They are on window in an attempt to fly away , they only see daylight not the glass.

Cluster flies are slightly smaller than house flies.
We get clouds of tiny brownish yellow flies like fruit flues, so many if them its like closing a blind but thats in late summer.
