We recently had someone round to replace a washer in our leaking tap. He also had to free up our stopcock which had become jammed.
Since then (yesterday) we've just noticed that when you pour a glass of water, you get a few tiny, tiny bits of something that eventually come to the surface. You really have to look hard to see them, but they're there. It looks like they might be oil, rather than something solid. If you let a glass of water stand for a while, you can see a slight oily film around some of the bits too.
I'm guessing that this may be something in the tap mechanism that came loose as the washer was replaced. Or maybe to do with the stopcock being sprayed with WD40 when loosening it up?
Is this sort of thing common when having work done on your plumbing? I assume it will work it's way out of the system? We're not drinking the water from this tap at the moment, but using it to rinse plates, water the garden etc.
