Hi folks, as I've mentioned before, my daughter is travelling to a conference in Toulouse soon. She arrives late at night about 11.30.

She has to get to the hotel in the middle of town so what's the best way to get there? Is there a bus? Or is it a taxi. If it is a taxi how does she do it without getting 'taken round the houses' or ripped of generally? Any idea on the amount she should pay for 5 miles? Does she tip? Can anyone give an advice please? Cheers.

I assume she's travelling by air, as the station is in the centre of town.

First of all, France, IMO, is a lot safer than UK, especially for what could be termed, the vulnerable.
It's also more egalitarian, i.e. the genders are treated more equally in society, in general.

Unfortuantely, I can't help out with cost of taxis, 'cos I've never used one here.

I suppose that one could take a loud French speaking satnav with one, if one were a bit paranoid about being ripped off by monsieur le cabbie ;)

She should be safe enough .After living with Joe for so long i am sure she could spot a weirdo from a considerable distance

She doesn't live with me. She's lived with her boyfriend for years. She's pretty Worldly wise.

Does she speak French? In my (limited) experience the quickest way to make yourself unpopular in France is to make no attempt to speak their language. My French is terrible, so much so that the hotel receptionist said that she would prefer English, but my efforts were appreciated. :) :) :)

Joe how old is she? If she is 8 she needs advice. If she is 18 she is capable of taking care of herself. Or are you on a wind-up? !

i hope she has found a hotel that accepts late arrivals as many in france don't! we got told off my the hotel we stayed at for arriving at 9pm!
