A while back i mist coated the walls in the living room. The initial mix of 50/50 water/paint was quite watery & messy.

The walls since got ripped off & replastered so it's all unpainted plaster right now.

I imagine i'll need a roller (what sort of knap is it called? is best - one of those fluffy ones, or a short pile one? I'm probably using carpet terminology now lol) on a long-ish pole.

But with it being a watery mix to begin with, other than putting sheets all over the floor & skirting, do you have any advice as to avoid splattering the entire room with paint & making a right old mess?

Side note: What do you do after the initial 50/50 mix? 70/30 paint/water or thereabouts? And then your actual top coat?

I wouldn't water it down that much, you only want to wet it up so it soaks into the plaster better than neat paint, I would normally add 10-20% water, use a medium pile roller and don't go too fast.
