We have an old 1860's stone cottage with a loft that was converted into a room about 20 years ago. The insulation is ancient (white styrofoam sheet) and it's freezing up there so we are going to re-roof and insulate. As the rafters are quite small the builders have suggested using a 50mm or 75mm cellotex insulation (100 mm would decrease size of the room too much). Now our builders have changed there mind and want to use TLX Gold with no internal cellotex. Does this sound right? The builder told us that a layer of TLX Gold is the equivilent to 100mm of cellotex. We are spending thousands on this project and want to know there will be a difference after doing it.
Thanks in advance.
