To add more stain or not?

I've given a pine stool a lick of wood stain (Rustins light teak) and let it dry thoroughly.
Looking at it now, it looks kinda washed out and pale. Now, I'm intending on rubbing it down with some Danish oil but before I do I'm in two minds about the stain.
Should I leave it as is and add the oil now or should I put another coat of stain on it? Will the oil darken the wood any more and lift the washed out look? Or would another coat be the better route?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Try the oil on the underneath of the stool, before deciding if it needs another coat of stain.
PS, don't forget to give it a very very light sanding before you put the oil on, as the stain will have brought the grain up a little bit. ;) ;) ;)

as the wood ages it will turn to an antique pine colour[without the yellow lol] with or without a finnish applied
so any colour added now will make it that much darker than antique pine in around 3 years time[sooner if in a sunny location]

Great stuff guys.

big-all, I didn't think of that! Hmm, I think I'll lay off the stain then and just add oil. Need to get a little sandpaper now!
