HI All,

I have been advised to fit a new boiler and cyclinder.

I have had several quotes, some engineers strongly recommend fitting a condensing boiler, others are aginst the idea and want to fit a standard boiler.

If the regs next year stipulate all new installs must be condensing boilers wouldn`t it be better to fit one now ?

If I fit a standard boiler would there be any ramifications if it needed fixing/servicing in years to come?

Thanks

The choice is yours.
Boiler spares will be available for years so that won't be a problem regarding repairs etc to a standard boiler.
Condensers are more efficient (so they tell me).
Depends on how deep your pockets are

Have a look at this topic, which has links to the working drafts of the new rules condensing or not. From these you can see that you don't always have to fit condensing so presumably non-condensing will still be available and cheaper although price difference I would expect would decrease if more are being sold.

The other thing to note is that they have changed tune. It used to be "you can fit condensing anywhere you fit conventional". Now the flue arrangements are very different.

Thanks Guys.

The quotes I have had are about £300 in difference for a standard or condensing boiler. I am not sure if it will be money well spent or not.

My pockets, at this time of year, are not that deep and my arms are always surprisingly short !! So is it worth the extra dosh ??

Cheers

Lee
