to feature wall or not to feature wall, please help

hi guys
In our livingroom we have a large chimney breast 1700mm wide 500mm deep with 1000mm and a 1500mm alcoves at either end. The missus keeps banging on about creating a feature wall but im not 100% sure and would value your input i also would like to know wether to do just chimney breast, just alcoves or all the lot
any advice would be greatly apprechiated

i think yoiur suggestion is a good idea

would you pick a colour from the paper ????
the rest of the room is white emulsion if that makes a difference.
