To tank Hardiebacker, should I use Aquaseal Tape instead of Hardiebacker mesh?

I have the mesh tape, but also bought Aquaseal tanking liquid.
Is there any reason to put on mesh and cover with tile adhesive (or whatever is used) on the joins, it instead I can tape them with Aquaseal tape and paint it all with Aquaseal

It would make it easier if I can do this, as I can tank all then get the tiler in, otherwise he was going to tape, then I tank it, then he comes back to tlle
