Hi.

I'm installing a toilet and shower in a ground level conversion. What's the right way to drain? Can I join in to the toilet drain on the inside or do I need to pass 2 full size brown pipes through into an inspection chamber? See pic. Thanks for any advice.

Soil stack if you can. Is that your drain or public (ie shared). If the latter you need Water Co approval. I/c should be installed if going into the pipe but talk to BC.

WC needs to be connected using a Chamber, you need to provide access for cleaning/unblocking if required going forward.

Shower can be connected to the WC drain if preferred, but again, either provide access or keep run as straight and simple as possible from Shower to drain to allow ease of unblocking in the future.

Any reason for this
Yes, it's a standard procedure when connecting foul waste at 90 degrees to a sewer run. It allows the trouble spot to be rodded.
and existing not allowed?
Eh?

Fitting a chamber means you could also pop a gully along side the WC run to pick up the shower waste.

Oh ok. I knew the reason for the chamber, I misunderstood what the OP was asking, I thought there was a SVP inside already.
