This toilet and sink waste pipe is for the upstairs bathroom. After some years, these suddenly became disconnected from the outside down pipe. I am struggling to get them to stay connected, and without there being any leaks. The one the right seems to be okay, but the one on the left leaks and/or comes away. They are on the first floor, and are easily enough accessible with a stepladder. Seems like it ought to be a simple enough job, without needing a plumber. Yet, I am struggling. Any thoughts please?

New washers in the connectors ? Or have the taper washers disappeared?

Might be worth considering replacing both the elbow on tee connectors. I would try push fits if it's not solvent weld designed pipe. Then you don.t have to tighten the joints up

Are you just trying to push them on? Remove the nuts and the seals and put them onto the pipe first, then offer up the fitting and screw up the nuts. You may have pushed the rubber seals into the fittings and they may need need prising out with a screwdriver.
