Toilet filler valve

Hi everyone.

I'm going to be replacing the filler valve in the loo (Not an issue). Im going to replace an old failed iso valve that sits between the current copper and filler.

Im going to cut back some of the old copper and use a flexi.

1) Would you use a compression or push-fit flexi on the copper.

2) All the copper piping has been coated in gloss, if using either type, can i just go straight over the gloss, or will I have to remove the gloss? (how?)

use compersion fitting and some ptfe(yes i know real plumbers don`t use it)

Yeh, compression just always feeler safer, weird.
Ok, and just go straight over the painted copper?

Remove the paint, you won't get the olive on otherwise.

why are you changing the service valve to a dreadful flexi ?

If you're replacing the isolator use a compression type, then a short piece of new copper after it leaves you free to choose compression or push-fit for the flexible piece.
Flexies are also available with an isolator incorporated.

yeh im after a flexi with builtin iso.

current one is broken. looks like some1 has been at it with a rather large flat head, rounded it off abit and only turns a little, wont shut off.

whats the best method of getting the paint of the copper? back of pipe is quite close to wall.
