Hello! I'm a total beginner and new homeowner - looking to replace a faulty flush button.

Pics here:
The flush itself works perfectly, but the button is stiff and tends to jam, and (as you can see) is also not firmly attached to the wall. It slots on and stays in place, but then falls off one flush in 20.

My questions are:
  1. Does anyone recognise the specific product?
  2. How complicated is it to replace (and how would I do it)?
Thanks in advance!

Have a look at toiletspares.co.uk
They have pages with dozens of push buttons and flush plates. Hopefully you can match yours.

It's made by Grohe as that makers name is on the button.

https://www.grohe.co.uk/en_gb/service/spare-parts-finder-homepage/index.html might find it with a bit of effort.
Similarly the toilet spare parts companies may have the items.

Grohe will have the parts numbers on the items' plastic mouldings, almost certainly?

Broken plastic clips are most likely reason it falls off...

After a clean up and silicone grease of the mechanisms it may be possible to re-fix with velcro dots or some blu-tak to help the plate stay in place. Alternative is a new concealed flush mechanism and flush plate.

I did think that it might be Grohe. I recently had to replace a Grohe pneumatic dual flush plate, and the wall plate looked very similar to the OP's one.

It is not the clearest picture but Grohe name is pretty unmistakeable ;)

I'm guessing it will be a pretty ancient install with the ladder lever actuation and single flush button... dual flush has been a standard for some considerable time. So the replacement flush mechanism and cable or pneumatic (electro-pneumatic even £££s) may become a necessity?

On the other hand the spare parts may be readily available?

Well spotted. The one I replaced recently was a pneumatic one. I found someone on ebay that was charging about £25 for one, which I assume could not be returned. I haven't personally come across the single lever version. Do you think that the op might need to replace the whole cistern mechanism if they cannot find a like for like replacement?

Dunno.
I haven't spent any great length of time looking for an install manual for that style of Grohe concealed flush. Parts number are likely to help.

https://www.toiletspares.co.uk/grohe-single-mechanical-plate.html looks similar to the OP's plate and that site has ladder parts and so on... but I don't have any Grohe concealed flush experience, myself.

Thanks everyone for your input. I emailed toiletspares.co.uk and they advised that this is indeed the correct replacement: https://www.toiletspares.co.uk/grohe-single-mechanical-plate.html

With that said, I'm unsure if anything else might need replacing. If I (temporarily) reattach the flush plate, it does work - and from what I can see, all it does is physically push the lever, with no attached mechanisms. You just push the button, the button moves back, and it pushes the lever. If there was any kind of cable involved, it's not there now and doesn't seem to be required for the button to work.

So in theory, if I simply replace it, it'll work fine.

But it does seem to be pretty ancient. The extractor fans are 12v so also pretty old, and I guess they date to around the same time. Perhaps I ought to get it updated to dual flush with the help of a plumber.

All told, I am much better informed now that I was, and I appreciate everyone's advice.
