Hello

I have noticed a small amount of water leaking around the overflow pipe from my toilet cistern. The water isn't going above the overflow pipe when it refills, the leak appears to be on the join (plastic bolt thingy) on the pipe. I have tried to tape it up with electric tape but it's still leaking - was hoping not to have to call a plumber at for what seems like a reasonably small job - any ideas please?

Thanks
Maggie

I take it that the overflow pipe is connected at the base of the cistern?

1. Stop water from entering the cistern.
Hopefully you will find a service valve nearby.

2. Flush the cistern, then sponge out the rest of the water.

3. Uncouple the overflow pipe, and then undo the nut that attaches the overflow tube to the cistern, and remove it.

4. Thoroughly clean and dry all mating surfaces.

5. If the rubber washer is disintegrating, renew it.

6. Reinstall the overflow tube and tighten the nut.

7. Reattach the overflow pipe.

8. Refill the cistern and test your work.

9. Thank anyone on the forum who you feel helped you.
