Toilet pipe

hi,
on a toilet you have the pipe feeding the water into the cistern, and also there is another pipe leading out on opposite side, some sort of wastepipe i think, can anybody tell me what its for...cheers

More than likely that if it is about 3/4 inch or 22mm then it is an overflow. Usually not required on newer siphons.
