Hello,

Apologies if this has been solved before. I have attempted to find an answer but could not.

The stopcock of my toilet doesn't completely shut off the water. As a result the water continues to run into the overflow pipe. I have attached a picture of the internal workings of the cistern for reference.

At one stage, tapping the control arm (cross on the right-hand unit) would sometimes stop the water. Also re-flushing worked at one stage. Now, nothing appears to work.

Any advice you can give would be extremely helpful. Thanks

Lift the float (the bit attached to the shaft with the cross on top) up by hand, and see if that shuts the valve.

If it does, lower the float level a bit by turning the shaft with the cross on top.

If it doesn't, it's probably time to overhaul or replace the fill valve.
