I've read a lot in the press about how Tony wants to preserve his place in history, and seeing how its apparent that its not going to be by doing anything good, he is trying to hang on until he stays in longer than Maggie did, which takes us up to about mid-2008. The downside being that as each day goes by, he looks a bigger spanner than he did the day before.
So here's my theory - Imagine if he is so consumed by dislike of Gordon, and the chances of labour winning the next election are slimming by the day, then perhaps he is staying on so that Gordon is destined to be the shortest serving prime minister ever, thus securing his place in pub quizzes around the land forever.
Does anybody know when this would make the handover ??
