Too Hot Water

Water from taps is scalding. There is a thermostat in the airing cupboard beside the hot tank and one on our new boiler. Which do I use to turn water heating down?

There should be a thermostat actually in contact with the hot water cylinder ,is there one ? If so what temperature is it set to ?

Thanks for the rapid reply. The thermostat in the airing cupboard is in contact with the hot water cylinder and is set at 65°.

If your hot water temperature is greater than the 65c set on the stat ,the stat may be faulty . Do you have an electric immersion heater also ? If so, ensure it is switched off.( Just to rule it out of the equation)

65C is pretty hot. Turn it down to 50C for a day. What happens to the tapwater temperature?

Have you got a thermometer?

We don’t have one.

Turn it down to 50C for a day. What happens to the tapwater?

Turned it down to 60C last night but wasn’t quick enough to check this morning and after 4 people showering will have to wait until later to check.
