I was rather a bit too trusting with letting my friend stick some oil in my fiesta but long story short he put rather a bit too much in, (an excessive amount) and the car would start, but would gurgle then cut out. So I drained the oil and got it back to a regular level but the car is still gurgling when its idling and cuts out 80% of the time. Im not sure if he's done some permanent damage or what, I had to drive it home, somehow managed, although it wasnt pretty.. no smoke just alot of cutting out. Hopefully I havnt done anything serious like blown a gasket? Anyone any ideas?

How overfilled was it?
Might have filled the breather pipes with oil which would suck up into the air filter and throttle body. New air filter and a tin of carburettor cleaner from halfrauds would sort this.
Failing that, the hydralic tappets may be shot

theres no reason to think hydraulic tappets are buggered due to oil overfill, ever!!!!! as said clean breather pipes and replace the oil sodden air filter, spark plugs may need a clean but if its running and not missing they will prob clean them selfs
