Too Narrow Gap

Just had a shower room makeover and find that the gap between the cupboard and the shower base is just too narrow (42mm) for access and maintenance. Any ideas for sorting this out!

Poor planning of the highest order! Replace the base unit with one that allows for a maintenance gap.
