does anyone no the name of this tool
when a screw head brakes off you use it as a drill and it puts a thread and you just undo it.
seen it before but cant think of the name

For timber I drill the top of the screw till it drops off and then take appart and remove the remaining with pliers.

One form of stud extractor is an 'Easy Out', a form of tap with a left hand thread. Drill an appropriate size tapping hole, and the extractor unscrews the stud as it tightens into the hole.

Stud boxes can be locked onto the projecting part of a stud or broken bolt, and used to unscrew it.

'Helicoil' inserts can be used to restore a stripped or damaged thread after a bolt or stud has been drilled out.
 
Unfortunately stud extractors aren't much use on woodscrews. Neither are helicoils
