I have a very slow leak from under the toilet system. Must have been occurring for some time as i can see mould. It seems to be coming from the neck of the flexible hose, where it meets the tap connector nut. This is connected to the bottom of the Torbeck valve.

The valve is only 6 months old & it seems to be the flexible hose judging by the mould at the exit point of the leak.

Its in an awkward position so i can't see what size the connector is at that side of the hose ( the other side of the hose is a 15mm compression with isolator valve.)

I need to replace the hose but want to buy the new one & have it ready before i attempt to remove the old.

Does anyone know what size tap connector i need on the hose? 3/4 or 1/2 inch?

There are some dodgy imports which are 3/8th but 1/2" is normal.

I don't like the quality if finish on most plastic float valves, finding the old flat faced fibre washer technique often results in a leak sooner or later whereas up against a brass seat a fibre washer'd tap connector seldome fails used skillfully.

I find that against plastic the Hepworth push fit tap connectors work well because they have a tapered rubber interface with the float valve (be that torbeck or convensional) which gets over problems in the seating without overtightening problems.

Or to put it another way all this modern stuff is crap, and we have to find new ways of working with it! Toilets are just getting worse and worse, we're spiraling in the direction of the hole in the ground and two foot islands to crowch from like the French had 30 years ago!
