Just moved into a new house and have cold a towel rail which I believe needs bleeding (top half is cold).

Only thing is I can't work out how to bleed it.

It's an old Myson rail and this is a pic of what I believe to be the bleed valve:

There's a circular piece of metal on the end which doesn't seem to move, but I didn't want to force it as I've got no idea which way to apply the pressure.

A second problem I've got is there's a leak from the lower left 'tap'

Can I just drain it then dismantle and PTFE the joints or is that unlikely to be enough?

Any help on either problem would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Simon

use some grips and turn bleed valve to open.Turn tap in then undo gland nut on valve the small on the spindle goes through and rap some ptf tape around it and do back up

Depends where exactly the leak is.

It seems to be leaking from around the spindle and the rate of dripping varies a lot as the tap is opened.

It doesn't actually drip as much when fully open as when it's half open but it does still leak.

Cheers,

Indeed - it`s a gland nut , like on old taps - there may be a detailed answer in the Wiki section ;)
