Hello my friend has a trade point card for b&q and I am wondering what sort of discount this gets you. He was telling me if I needed anything I could go in with him to get the discounted price but I am wondering what that discount is or even if it's worth it?

Just an advertising ploy, you can still get far better prices at local timber merchants, plumbers merchants etc [and far better range].

The discounts are pretty mixed. On some things it's pretty good, maybe 25%, on higher ticket items it is zero. Basically own brand stuff and building materials are better.

Not always a discount but handy sometimes to avoid the queue, especially on a Wednesday

Trade point is a joke your better off going selco.
What ever prices they show you on line when you go in the shop they have same codes but higher prices. They even sell things cheaper to the public because they charge you vat on top of public price

When I applied at their trade point I advised I was both time served and qualified as a chartered engineer and therefore considered myself capable of conducting a business. They looked up their list of those "entitled" to qualify for their scheme and the only 'engineer' they could come up with was "heating engineer" So much for the educated masses.
That also reminded me of a job advert put out by Shell several years ago looking for off-shore technicians. Out of interest some of my colleagues and myself (all Chartered Engineers actually working for Shell) had a go at filling in their on-line applications. We all failed at step-1 as none of us had any NVQs !!
