Just looked at booking some tickets for a show.
The only way of payment is by card.
So booking fee
but also an additional charge for transaction
WTF is that about :?:

I go to this particular venue, quite often, never been charge a transaction fee.
What is it? and the difference between a booking fee is?
With the booking fee and the transaction fee, it's added over 11.5% to the total.
Bl00dy rip off,
how do I get the tickets at face value?
if I can't is that illegal?

This is quite common now the parasitic firm Ticket Master buy all the seats, then charge you a fee for buying them.
This is something that should be outlawed you used to be able to book direct with the theatre, to add insult they charge the fee per ticket not per transaction.

You ever tried booking with Ripoffair you must have.
CC payments depending on client incur a 1or2% surcharge per transaction, your booking fee is ontop.

The 'technical' term for this is called;

'Screwing the stupid public till they catch on scheme.'

What happened to good old cash transactions?

I would pay cash if it was an option or even the old fashioned cheque.
it used to be the credit card only that charged booking fees and the debit cards were not, but not anymore.
But why do you get charged for a transaction? If there was no transactions they would not sell tickets, so why charge for it? it's put me off buying the tickets now.

Ticketmaster are a joke and should be investigated for ripping off the public.

You can buy a ticket for an event, say £20 and they charge £3.50 fee

You can buy a better seated ticket for the same event at £60 and they charge £7 transaction fee.

I cant see how it costs them more to process a cheaper ticket than a more expensive one. it is the exact same process just a different number!

I've just booked a holiday and they added 0.5% for using my debit card, it's becoming bl00dy sickening!
The only way of stopping this from happening would be if everyone, and I mean everyone, refused to pay it to the extent that you walk away from the deal rather than pay the fee. This may well mean that tickets for concerts don't get sold, holidays are left vacant etc etc. Something about market forces...

It would be wonderful if we did do that, but it's not going to happen.
