I have a New Team 30v shower pump that has failed. I have a replacement but it is of a slightly different spec. The old one is 150 watt 5 amp powered through a 150 watt transformer. The new one is 120 watt 4 amp.

Am I correct in thinking that I can simply replace the old pump, retaining the original transformer, since the new pump will simply draw the current it requires rather than the transformer 'pushing' more current through it than it needs?

I do I need to replace the transformer with a 120 watt model?

Use the old transformer, so long as the output is 30V.
The new pump draws less current which is kinder to the transformer.
Always safer to have sprare capacity on transformer output, but a 5A transformer cannot be used for a 6A load.
