The aforesaid oily Transit also sports a faulty fuel gauge. Its a 52 plate double wheel tipper.
Unfortunately, I've no idea how much fuel is actually in the tank, but the gauge reads about 1/4 full with the ignition off.
However, on switching the ignition on, the gauge actually descends to zero, and the low fuel light is on at this time.
Would anyone care to speculate? I automatically assume that its the sender unit but I'm also aware that these vehicles have problems with their dashboards.
Any offers?
Cheers
John :)

No boss its the usual 2.4 Duratorq diesel.
You don't know where the senders are, do you? The tank extends under the passenger seat which looks like it'll have to come out to get access from the top - through a hatch maybe :(

never done a transit but most senders ive attacked were as you say under the seat in an inspection type circular hatch (fuel pump was in the same place)
