I am trying to renovate a basement flat and am an amateur. Have had a lot of problems with damp and was miffed at a patch of damp around a light switch by a door in the living room as is too high for rising damp. Decided to knock into the wall and found a rotten piece of wood in with the brickwork right in the middle of the damp area (please see pictures). Any advice on what to do next? Any advice appreciated, am wanting to make prgress on it on saturday..... cheers.
