Trip times for S-type RCD's to BS EN 61008 and RCBO's to BS EN 61009.

MK's literature mentions trip times between 350-500ms.

OSG mentions trip times between 130-500ms.

Why the discrepancy?

To clear it up, I asked the IEE. Their response? Check with the BSi to see what specifications are laid down for each standard.

Does anybody know? Because AFAICT, you have to buy these standards to find out. And I ain't paying £150 each for them!!!

I would imagine that the band stated in the OSG is what is defined in the standard, if MK choose to work to a smaller band within this, then they are perfectly entitled to do so. I expect it could be something to do with discrimination

there is no descrepancy, its quite normal for manufacturers to work to tighter requirements than those specified in the standards.

Do you know what the standards say regarding trip times?

There is no discrepancy. 350-500ms is between 130ms and 500ms.

What I'm getting at is why is the OSG figure lower?

I mean, why lower than 200, the minimum trip time?
