Hi All, We just bought a new to us house - big regrets now - and it has an 8.5KW Cara fitted
The flow is good on cold but when turned up to anything resembling warm there is only a trickle of water coming from the shower head.

I compared it to my mothers Triton T80 and she has decent flow even in cold weather. So I guess its either repair or replace ? Is it worth trying to repair ? if so what could be the issue ?

If not worth repair does anyone know of an alternative unit that would be a direct fit ?

I see that the T80SI has the water connection in the same place and same 20mm from the casing but aside from that I dont know if it will fit.

Thanks in advance.

One of its heating elements is probably not working.
I would just replace it , particularly if it's several years old.

That is a temperature controlled flow shower, versus the type where the user manually sets the temperature by adjusting the flow. Poor flow, and not getting any, or much warm water, suggests the element has failed. Probably not worth attempting to repair.

Thanks all, another unexpected cost - such is life.

Would the T80Z or SI be a direct replacement or any other that you can think of ?

Not the si unless your shower is tank fed. The T80Z is a good mid-range one, with set and forget temperature control. It also has adaptable ways in for the power cable and water, making it easier to fit as a replacement for an existing shower. Make sure you get the correct wattage, to suit your cable/MCB. Cost can vary a lot, between suppliers, so shop around.

Thank you, the water inlet on this one we have is from below - directly under the unit but the T80Z is left or right - will that still work ?

Show us a picture of your shower ,front panel removed, showing the pipework orientation and connection.
Turn off the electric supply to the shower before removing the front panel.
