Isn't it interesting this past week or so that all the prolific posters like doubtfire & ten names have all gone. I was semi joking a while back when I suggested they were 'reverse psychology russian web bots' But do you think they have all been aimed at the US elections in aid of Trump?

be interesting to see if they come back here after the US election is over

anyways, how much more pleasant it is when they are not around.

It’s just one person, he used the name Himagin for ages so he is commonly known as Himmie.

He has had so many different usernames we could start a thread trying to remember them all…..it must run into a few dozen.

I believe he tried the screwfix thread until he got permanently banned

Personally, I don't believe the standard Himmie line of "I was banned again" (from DIYNot").

On the basis that any new incarnation will, for any regular poster, typically be suspected within a handful of posts, and obvious within the day, so must it also be to the Mods.

And if they'd banned him, it would make sense to cull his new persona quick-sharp as well.

I have had a little read of the comments in here, and I concluded that it is some sort of echo chamber for those of the right wing disposition, with a few well intentioned middle of the road types. This comment is a perfect example: "how much more pleasant it is when they are not around."
It is not a Discussion Forum, as is implied by its title. Other opinions are greeted with disdain and the holders of such opinions usually subjected to insults.
I would have added to the middle of the road voices, but I suspect I would soon be hounded out because so many want an echo chamber, not a discussion. Dissention is usually met with abuse, which is allowed to flourish.
So look to yourselves for the Troll-Bots.

By the way, thanks to the replies about my handbrake problem. It is not yet sorted but I can manage with it as is, until my appointment for repair.

I can see how much you guys like facts and figures.
For a start, take a look at the new recruits to this section of the site. I reckon it is about one new recruit every couple of years.
As far as I can see, Carmenmemoranda was the latest in 2022. Before that it was Odds in 2020.
Before that it was Vinty in 2018.
Others date from over 10 years ago.

Your approach, to recruiting new ideas, new opinions, is killing this section. It is dying as we speak.

This is what convinces me that it is an echo chamber, not a discussion forum. It is an old fellows group love-in, in the bar. Newcomers not welcome.
If that is what you want, keep doing what you are doing.
I won't be helping you.
