If a rad hasnt worked for 5 years presumed trv pin stuck the head been removed and the pin is stuck down. Is there still a good chance pressing down on the pin will lift the pin?

Worth a try ,tapping the pin with a block of wood ,is too. A drop of oil on the pin wouldn't go amiss either.

Is tapping it ever likely to cause a leak. I'd be doing it on an evening so don't fancy a drain down . One can never tell though.

Light tapping wouldn't cause it to leak ,whatever you do ,don't be tempted to pull the pin up !!
