Hi All

I have a Vaillant boiler which has a temp control knob on which adjust from 1-9 and 11 rads which all have TRV's on which adjust from 1-5. I have no room stats or anything.

Which is more economical:-

set my boiler to max and let TRV's regulate room temp OR set my boiler temp as low as poss but high enough so that the coldest room still gets up to temp????

Thanks

1. Shut the boiler off
2. Set the boiler to max and control individual rooms with TRV's

i am not a plumber or heating engineer, but from what i read on these forums you must have 1 rad with NO trv so it acts as a bypass, also you should have a room stat too (building regulation ?)

but to answer your question i would turn boiler to just over half way and turn trvs down (thats what we have done, and we have a room stat, and no trv on bathroom rad)

Thanks for the advice and I should have put there is 1 rad without a TRV but it was quicker to type all rads have trv's
