Hi guys, you may have seen from my previous post, I'm trying to fit a glass shower door myself.

See images below...

As you'll see in the images I have started drilling the holes for the bottom bracket to hold the hinge for the door but unfortunately the bottom tile cracked slightly and now I'm concerned about how to finish this job.

As the tile has cracked, the top end of the wall plug is now exposed so won't form a good grip but if I were to hammer it into the wall I've got the problem with it being lower than the tiles which are above it so the hinge won't screw in accurately (I hope that makes sense).

The next step is to drill in the top wall plugs but even if the tile doesn't crack, I'm going to have the same issue. I guess the best solution would be to replace the bottom tile and try again, this time drilling slowly, trying to avoid a crack.

I'm not sure how easy this is to do though and if I also crack the top tile I'm concerned this will turn into a disaster (hence why I'm on here trying to prevent that from happening).

Any advice is hugely appreciated!

Thanks,

When drilling tiles, the area to be drilled, it is best to place adhesive tape where the hole is going to be and accurately mark up on the tape the location of hole, pilot hole, do not use hammer action, nice and steady. Once piloted you can then select correct drill size for plug, then again no hammer action.
Replace the broken tile or you will not only have problem with secure fitting but also water ingress to wall, suggest you have good coverage of adhesive where the hole is to drilled.

Wee tip before drilling holes in tiles...

Get a drywall screw and hammer and slightly tap the screw onto the tiles to get indentation in the tile...so your 6mm masonary drill bit doesn't slid everywhere...
