The gas will be turned off to the entire house soon and I am wondering if there's anything I need to do with the Greenstar (new last year). I am proposing to turn the left-hand dial to off and then turn the separate Honeywell timer also to off (water). (The timer is already off for heating of course.) I don't propose to turn off the electrical supply anywhere. Will this be enough? I've read in the instruction book that the big blue light on the boiler flashes blue if the gas is interrupted - is this only when the boiler is turned on? There is a massive warning in the book not to turn off the electrics at any point so I don't intend to.

I'd just turn the boiler off, but leave the timer on so it doesn't lose the time, settings etc. It wont fault if switched off, although even if it does, its easy enough to reset the alarm and restart.

When they have finished, they will have to carry out a purge and relight to the boiler. Just turn off the timed program so the hot water doesn’t try to fire the boiler.
