twist lock bend

I am doing a bit of DIY on a rain water gulley and I need to reconnect about a metre of pipework in plastic onto clay pipe.The angle of one of the connections is a bit awkard and I was thinking of using a Wickes twist lock bend to get round the problem,and use a UPVA/clay connector to complete the connection .Are these products any good.
