I have noticed around my office that some of the work is what I would regard as "sub standard" if I were to be doing it myself. The kind of thing that would really bug me. Tiles in the toilets not all stuck true, woodplugs not flush in wood door frames, door furniture slightly off. Now, it is all very minor amounts that you only notice if you are a DIYer or master tradesman I reckon.
I understand that in a big development time is of the essence, but I would not want work of this quality in my own home. So I was wondering:
Do you (professionals) have different grades to which you work depending on the customer? (Business or domestic)
Presumably if you do, you charge accordingly because it takes longer to do a better job. Time is still time, after all. But do you consciously think "This is someone's house, I better sand this bit flush", or "Would I want to spend £10K on a bathroom and have wonky tiles?" perhaps.
