We split our garage into two sections and are currently decorating one half as an office.

The lights in both the office (to be) and the garage are controlled by one switch. I want to have two separate switches for both the office lights and the garage lights. I had a look at the cables, and there is a forth cable?? I've tried loads of combinations of taking one out, swapping them around and nothing works... can youhelp me please.

Thanks.

your second light is fed by what is known as a switched live (goes live when the switch is operated) you will have to move this wire to a permanent live and install a new switch and cable

if you have a look at this

it shows you how it is done and which wire does what, in your case you should (as i mentioned) you should move the wire feeding the second light from the swithed live to a permanent live.

just a thought at the minute can you turn both lights on from one switch and off from another? (and vice versa)
